How Zelo Technologies collects, uses and protects personal data under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019.

Zelo Technologies Limited is the data controller for this website. We decide why and how personal data collected here is used.

What we collect

The enquiry form on our contact page collects your name, your email address, your organisation, the service you're interested in and your message. It also asks for a phone or WhatsApp number and when you need the work; both are optional, and the number is used only to reply to you. We store the user-agent string your browser sends with the form too, so we can tell real enquiries from spam.

Your IP address is passed to Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a person and not a bot filled the form in, and to PostHog for the analytics described below. We do not store it.

We also run cookieless analytics, hosted by PostHog in Frankfurt, Germany. It counts visits and page views without setting a cookie or any other persistent identifier on your device. Page views within the same day are grouped using a short-lived, anonymised hash that is discarded daily; nothing links one day's visit to the next, and nothing here identifies you personally.

Why we process it

  • To respond to enquiries you send us.
  • To understand how the site is used, so we can improve it.

Our lawful basis

We process enquiry details because you asked us to, as a step you take before we discuss working together.

We process analytics events on the basis of our legitimate interest in understanding site usage, an interest we consider reasonable given that no cookie or persistent identifier is involved.

Who else handles your data

We use a small number of processors, who act only on our instructions and not for their own purposes:

  • Resend delivers enquiry messages to us by email.
  • Cloudflare hosts this site, stores enquiry submissions in its D1 database, and protects the site from abuse.
  • PostHog (EU region, Frankfurt) runs the cookieless analytics described above.
  • Sanity stores the site's content and serves its images, such as team photographs and client logos, so your browser receives those images, and your IP address, from Sanity's content network.

We do not sell personal data, to anyone, ever.

Where your data is processed

PostHog's analytics infrastructure sits in Frankfurt, Germany, and Cloudflare and Sanity operate global networks. Where personal data leaves Kenya, we only use processors who can show appropriate safeguards for it, as Kenyan law requires.

How long we keep it

Analytics events are not linked to you beyond your visit; we keep no record connecting one visit to the next.

Enquiry submissions are kept for 12 months from the date we receive them, long enough to follow up on a conversation, then deleted.

Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act, 2019, you have the right to:

  • be informed of how your personal data is used;
  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate or misleading data corrected;
  • have your data deleted; and
  • object to some or all of our processing of it.
